Job Title: X-Ray Technologist

FLSA Classification: Non-exempt, eligible for overtime compensation

Reports to: Site Coordinator or Imaging Manager

A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required.

Job Summary

Performs radiological bone density exams as ordered by physician.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Completion of course in radiologic technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Work Experience:

Preferred Experience/Qualifications: Current CPR certification.

Other Qualifications: Current ARRT certification.

Responsibilities

Administrative:

Demonstrates thorough knowledge of ACP policy and procedure in performing administrative duties to include x-ray requisitions, labels, medical record and patient confidentiality, documentation, supply ordering, consent forms and waivers. Maintains up-to-date resource materials (equipment manuals, regulatory guidelines, contract, ancillary and vendor grids). Maintains complete and current equipment quality control and maintenance records. Maintains organized system for optimal patient flow and quality diagnostic x-rays by reviewing appointment schedule and planning/prioritizing procedures. Assists with effective medical records management by accurately completing requests for reports.

Technical:

Demonstrates competency in performing bone densitometry procedures to include proper positioning of patient, setting of equipment controls and analyzing images. Demonstrates adherence to safety standards for radiation exposure and effectively utilizes radiation protective and shielding materials. Follows physician’s orders precisely and effectively communicates instructions to patient. Performs scheduled maintenance and calibrations of equipment, and adheres to protocol for investigating deviations and corrective action. Adheres to OSHA/CLIA guidelines regarding universal precautions, bio hazardous safety and infection control. Demonstrates competency in utilizing office equipment to include PCs, printers, fax machine, photocopier and telephone system. Establishes protocol for troubleshooting and reporting hardware and software problems.
