Elaine Hooper, FNP
Elaine was born in Long Island, New York and has lived in both Long Island and Maryland. She moved to Tucson to go to the University of Arizona, where she received her nursing degree and her Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner degree. She also attended the University of Phoenix and received a Master’s of Science in Nursing Administration. She lived in Tucson for a number of years, before moving to the small town of Sonoita . From there she moved to Reedsport, Oregon, to work in an internal medicine practice. After 2 ½ years in the Pacific Northwest, she moved back to Arizona and is now living in Tucson’s Eastside. She is nationally certified as an adult/geriatric primary care nurse practitioner through the American Nurses’ Association. She has practiced as a nurse practitioner for the past 32 years.
She is married to John, a retired electrical engineer and has two children. Her married daughter lives in Portland, and has three school age boys. Her son is a nurse practitioner who works at El Rio Health Center. She has a “family” of three pugs who are also happy to get out of the Oregonian rain.
Motivational coaching is Elaine’s favorite facet of the medical field. She enjoys working with people who have diabetes, chronic pain, and nutritional deficits to assist them to a life of better health. She has taught group classes in non-opiate pain management, smoking cessation, and menopause hormone management. In her spare time, Elaine likes to do outdoor activities such as hiking and biking. She enjoys photography, especially nature photography. She also makes jewelry doing beading for herself and her friends. She is looking forward to meeting the Arizona Community Physicians staff and her new health clients.
