Cadey Harrel, MD
Dr. Cadey Harrel is a board-certified family physician, and founder of a new ACP site, Agave Family Medicine & Breastfeeding Support Center. Previously she was Assistant Professor of Family & Community Medicine at the University of Arizona in South Tucson, where she developed a dedicated women's health and breastfeeding medicine clinic, teaching future family physicians how to perform ambulatory gynecologic procedures such as endometrial biopsies, colposcopy, Bartholin gland cyst management, and how to diagnose pathology related to lactation and breastfeeding. She embarked on this new endeavor to pursue a longtime vision of Agave, caring for patients in the context of their families, with an emphasis on women's health, pediatrics, and breastfeeding medicine. She has served on the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine Protocol Committee, having authored numerous evidence-based protocols for the care of patients during lactation and breastfeeding, most notably with one adopted by the World Health Organization as standard of care for maternity practices supportive of breastfeeding. She has also taught Breastfeeding Medicine to professional learners nationally as honorary faculty with the Institute for Advancement of Breastfeeding and Lactation Education.
In her free time, Dr. Harrel serves as a director of the AzAFP, runs a local nonprofit focused on health literacy and equity, and enjoys spending time with her family, two dogs, hiking, and gardening.
Dr. Harrel is accepting new patients from all walks of life, and is also accepting breastfeeding medicine, colposcopy, abnormal pap, and other women’s health related consultations.
