ACP uses Epic for our patient electronic health records system (EHR). Maintains records and files to include creating, scanning, locating, logging, retrieving and delivering medical records. Also responds to outside requests medical records information.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Experience/Qualifications: Six months of experience working as an electronic medical records clerk in a clinic or outpatient setting.
Other Qualifications: General clerical skills
Maintains medical records and files to include creating new charts, scanning documents, pulling charts for clinic, locating charts, securing documents in chart, purging old records, replacing worn jackets and lettering and updating labels. Prints next day schedules and pulls charts, verifying spelling of last name and date of birth. Alerts front office staff immediately of missing charts for clinic and organizes systematic search. Ensures that most recent correspondence, dictation and test results are filed before appointments.
Maintains organized work area and efficient system for tracking charts, responding to chart requests, alphabetizing loose filing and routing incoming correspondence and test results for provider review. Prioritizes chart requests and effectively utilizes time with scheduled pickups and deliveries. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of ACP guidelines for medical record confidentiality and release of information.
Demonstrates competency in utilizing medical office software relating to function keys, search and queries, patient registration and report generation. Demonstrates competency in utilizing office equipment to include computer, scanner, printers, fax machine, photocopier and telephone system. Understands basic PC windows applications. Knows protocol for troubleshooting and reporting hardware and software problems.
