­­­­­­­­­­Marie Smith is a board certified pediatric nurse practitioner (CPNP).  She completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree (DNP) in 2017 at the University of Arizona.  Her research was focused on the effects of prenatal substance exposure and providing education for caregivers of substance-exposed children.

Marie has many years of experience working with children of all ages.  While completing her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences at the U of A, she worked at the Casa de los Niños crisis shelter with abused and neglected children.  She finished a Master of Science in Entry Level Nursing degree in 2014 at the U of A and worked for 3 ½ years in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tucson.  Marie is very passionate about working with new parents and helping them to transition into their new role.

Marie and her husband Shad are foster parents and have a 1 ½ year old daughter who they hope to adopt.  They are also expecting a baby in March 2018!  Marie enjoys playing the piano on the worship team at her church and going on evening walks with her husband, daughter, and golden retriever.
